StatusNearMe for Android

Pre-release package: v0.6.0-beta.6 · channel beta · versionCode 606. Sideload only — Google Play / App Store links stay empty until store approval.

Before you install

• Android only for this package. Use a phone or tablet (not a PC browser install).
• Not on Google Play yet — this is a direct APK (sideload). That is normal for private betas.
• Uninstall older StatusNearMe first if you installed an earlier debug beta (beta.3 / beta.4 or “debug” builds). This package is release-signed; Android will refuse to update over a different signature. Settings → Apps → StatusNearMe → Uninstall, then continue below.
• Only download from statusnearme.com/beta/. Allowing “unknown apps” means you trust this site and your browser — not every APK on the internet.
• StatusNearMe is informational only — not tax or legal advice. Confirm at the till or pump.

Install steps (Android)

1. On your Android phone, open this page in Chrome (recommended) or your usual browser.
2. Tap Download for the current beta APK (or Latest beta). Wait until the download finishes. You may see a download bar or a notification.
3. Open the file:
   • Tap the download notification, or
   • Open the Files / My Files / Downloads app and tap the StatusNearMe-….apk file.
4. If Android says the app is blocked or from an unknown source:
   • Tap Settings (or “Configure”) on that message.
   • Allow install from this browser or from Files (wording varies by brand): e.g. “Install unknown apps” → Chrome / Files → allow.
   • Go back and open the APK again.
5. Tap Install. When it finishes, tap Open (or find StatusNearMe in your app drawer).
6. If the app says a newer beta is required, return here, download the latest APK, and install again (replace the old one).
7. Accept the User Agreement, then try Near me, search, or voice. Location and mic are optional — Android will ask only when you use those features.

Samsung / Pixel / other brands: menus may say “Special app access,” “Install unknown apps,” or “Restricted settings.” The idea is the same: allow the app that opened the APK (Chrome or Files) to install packages, then install StatusNearMe only from this site.
